Citizenship Day

Registration for Citizenship Day is closed because April’s event is postponed. We will post a new sign-up link when a new event is scheduled.

The William & Mary Law School Immigration Clinic’s free naturalization clinic on April 8, 2023 is postponed.

Do I Qualify?

You may qualify for naturalization if:

  • You have been a legal permanent resident for at least 5 years OR have been married to and living with the same US citizen spouse for the last 3 years
  • You are at least 18 years of age

There are several other factors that may affect your eligibility to apply for citizenship, including criminal charges, criminal convictions, and travel outside of the United States.

Does the Clinic Provide Interpreters?

If you will need an interpreter to assist you with your application, please indicate your language on the signup sheet below.

Do I Qualify for a Fee Waiver?

USCIS charges a fee to apply for naturalization. However, if you meet certain requirements, you may qualify for a reduced fee or fee waiver for your naturalization application. You can use this calculator to determine if you may qualify for the waiver. You can learn more about the fee on USCIS’s website.

What Do I Need to Bring With Me?

For the Naturalization application, you will need to bring the following documents:

  • Your current passports
  • Any expired passports (if you still have them)
  • Lawful Permanent Resident card (“Green Card”)
  • Social Security Card
  • Copies of previous immigration filings (if available)
  • Copy of marriage certificate (if any)
  • Copy of divorce decrees (if any)
  • Copies of final dispositions of any arrests, convictions, charges, and/or traffic tickets.

If you qualify for the fee waiver and would like to apply, you will need to bring the following documents:

  • 2022 W-2 (if available)
  • 2022 Tax Return (if available)
  • 2021 Tax Return (if return from 2022 is not available)

Registration for Citizenship Day is closed because April’s event is postponed. We will post a new sign-up link when a new event is scheduled.

An appointment at Citizenship Day does not guarantee that you are eligible for citizenship, and does not guarantee that your application will be granted.

By signing up for an appointment at Citizenship Day, you confirm that you understand that the Immigration Clinic is not agreeing to represent you in your immigration matters and is not accepting you as a client.
