The Immigration Clinic is Ready to Help Our Afghan Neighbors

Many people who arrived from Afghanistan on parole may not be sure of their options for how to stay in the United States. We understand that this is a difficult and stressful time. However, now is the best time to consult with an attorney about your specific immigration needs. Below, we provide clarifying information to help ease anxiety about what it is like to contact the Clinic and how to become a client.

The Immigration Clinic is committed to assisting our Afghan neighbors in Hampton Roads and in Virginia more broadly. If you live outside of Virginia, please click here to find attorneys and nonprofit organizations near you.

Thank you to the resettlement agencies, community partners, and Hampton Roads residents who have already reached out to us, including Commonwealth Catholic Charities, the International Rescue Committee, and Hampton Roads Refugee Relief. We are grateful for your partnership!

How to Apply for Our Services

If you are interested in becoming a client of the Immigration Clinic, please contact us via phone or email to receive an application for our services. We can send the application by mail to your home or via email. If you do not read or write in English, please let us know so that we can work with you. We have interpreters who can assist.

This application asks many questions about how you arrived in the United States and about other  information to help us to better understand your situation.  There is no requirement that you have already applied for a visa, green card, or asylum in order to receive our services. If you are accepted as a client of the Clinic, we can assist you in these applications.

After you send the application back to us,  we will contact  you about next steps, which may include asking for additional documents or speaking with us over the phone or  meeting in-person.

After reviewing your application, we will discuss with you what you may be eligible for, as well as if we can accept you as a client of the Clinic.

If you become a client of the Clinic, you will not need to pay for our work. The only costs associated with our representation are fees that the government charges. If there is a fee for a particular application, we will work with you on a fee waiver if you are eligible.
